店名に込めた想い

The thought behind our shop name


店名は「dandeliOn（ダンデライオン）」
 ご存知のとおり「たんぽぽ」の花を意味します。たんぽぽの花がライオンのたてがみに似ているから、こんな名前になったのかな？と思っていたのですが、実はフランス語で「ライオンの歯」という意味だそうです。何でも、たんぽぽの葉がライオンの牙のようにギザギザしていることがその由来だそうです。（諸説あるかもしれませんが。） 　

当然、そんな物騒な意味をお店の名前に込めるワケはなく、、、 　
「dandeliOn」ではストレスフルな現代社会の中で日々忙しく働くみなさまへ、少しでも日々の暮らしを彩るお手伝いをすることで、心身共に健康な毎日を送っていただければと考えています。 　

たんぽぽのわた毛が風にのって遠くへ飛んでいくように、この想いをみなさまのもとへ届けたいという意味を込めて「dandeliOn」と名付けました。

 We aim to add a little something special to your life, brightening your daily routine and supporting your well-being. Much like the dandelion's seeds drifting on the wind to distant places, I hope to send our positive message and support to all of you. That’s why we named the shop "dandeliOn."





『民藝』との出会い

 Discovering "Mingei": Beauty Born of Utility

 

柳宗悦氏の”民藝”の思想に私が最初に触れたのは、私の地元・熊本にある「熊本国際民藝館」を訪れた時でした。ここで出会ったのが以下の言葉です。 

 

『日夜の暮らしに役立つよう又、よい材料で親切に作られ、永く保つ物ー名もない民衆の間に産まれ、民衆の間ではたらくー民衆的工藝品。このような物に、おのづから美が宿る、用即美。美しい暮しをこのようなものと共に在る。』

　

これは「モノ」だけではなく、私たち「人」にも当てはまる価値観なのではないか？と当時の私は感じたのです。会社や組織、家庭においても、地味で目立たない仕事があると思いますが、それはなくてはならない仕事です。それを日々こつこつとやっている人がいるからこそ会社や組織、家庭が円滑にまわっていく。地味で目立たないが、そこに価値を見出していく。そして、その役割を担っている人達に感謝をして暮らしていくことが、日々の暮らしに彩りを添えることに繋がる。ひとり一人がこのような価値観を持つことで、今の世の中が随分と豊かな暮らしになるような気がします。

大正・昭和初期と現在では「暮らし」の中身も様変わりし、いわゆる暮らしに役立つ日用品も求められるものが違ってきていると思います。しかし、そこに「美」＝「価値」を見出していく必要性は変わらないと思います。私自身もまだまだ勉強中の身ですが、dandeliOnというお店を通して、今の世の中の「用の美」・「用即美」を探し求めて、みなさまへご提案することで、彩りのある豊かな暮らしを届けていければと思っています。

 

My first encounter with the philosophy of Muneyoshi Yanagi was at the Kumamoto International Folk Art Museum in my hometown. It was there that I came across these words, which remain etched in my heart:

 

"Objects made with kindness from quality materials, crafted to last and serve our daily lives—born from the hands of nameless people, to work for the people. These are 'folk crafts.' In such objects, beauty dwells naturally; utility is beauty. To live a beautiful life is to live alongside these things."

 

I believe this truth extends beyond objects to the way we live. Just like these essential tools, our world is sustained by those who diligently fulfill quiet, understated roles behind the scenes. To recognize the profound value in these "nameless" efforts and to live with gratitude for them is, I believe, what it means to live a truly beautiful life.

Although the items we require have evolved with the times, the essence of "Yo-no-Bi" (the Beauty of Utility) remains unchanged. Through dandeliOn, I seek to find this modern beauty and share it with you. It is my hope that through our shop, we can deliver a sense of richness and bring gentle color to your everyday life.
